La serie Walker nació como un juego. Observé que innumerables fotógrafos capturaban la silueta de alguien caminando al contraluz o protegido por complices sombras que impedían identificar aquel caminante. Decidí intentar perseguirlo durante mis paseos con cámara y acabé sintiendome tan cómodo con él que no pude evitar ponerle un nombre. El mito es la forma más eficaz de combatir la fugacidad y la caducidad de los humanos. Según Mircea Eliade en su Mito y realidad, el mito es una realidad, y hay que contar con ella no sólo como una imagen del pasado, sino también como técnica utilizada por el hombre moderno para renovarse y percibir la eternidad. El camino del héroe o el viaje del héroe es un patrón que se ha encontrado en las historias y leyendas populares. El viaje, a su vez, se ha convertido en símbolo de lo transitorio y búsqueda de lo permanente, en símbolo de conocimiento del mundo y de uno mismo. The series Walker was born as a game. I observed innumerable photographers were capturing the silhouette of someone walking to the back light or protected by accomplices shades that they were preventing from identifying that walker. I decided to try to chase it during my walks with camera and I ended up feeling so comfortable with him that I could not avoid to put a name. The way of the hero or the trip of the hero is a pattern that one has found in the histories and popular legends. The trip, in turn, has turned into symbol of the transitory thing and search of the permanent thing, into symbol of knowledge of the world and of one himself. |
